API keys

Create, use and revoke the keys that let your code call the Iris API.

Creating a key

    Open Account → API

    Account → API, while signed in.
  2. 2

    Name it

    After where it is used: “Production bot”, “Compliance checks”. Then Create key.
  3. 3

    Copy it now

    It is shown once. Iris keeps only a fingerprint of it and can't show it again.

A key looks like iris_live_ followed by 48 characters. The list shows only its beginning.

Using it

Send it as Authorization: Bearer iris_live_… or x-api-key: iris_live_…. See Authentication.

Managing keys

  • Up to 10 active keys per account: one per app or server.
  • Each key shows when it was created and last used; Usage shows what each spent.
  • Revoke stops a key at once. Programs using it get 401 invalid_key. Revoked keys stay listed for 30 days.
  • Keys spend your account's allowance, but can't create keys, pay or change your account.
